Scenario:
ASTAD Project Management was established in March 2008 as a strategic 50/50 joint venture by Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Qatar Foundation (QF). Its aim is to develop a national, sustainable consultancy capable of providing world-class project management, engineering and construction consultancy services for all QF and QP projects. ASTAD approached Michael Page Oil & Gas to recruit 50+ senior level staff in a three week period, targeting the UAE market. ASTAD’s CEO, COO and leadership team wanted to interview 160 candidates over four days including a controlled ‘walk-in’ campaign on the fourth day.
Solution:
We proposed a multi-faceted approach to the potential candidate market: 1. Database Michael Page Oil & Gas complements every search campaign with a thorough search of our local and global databases. We have the most extensive and accurate candidate database in the MEA region with more than 80,000 registered local candidates. Our global reach extends our sourcing capabilities to include more than 3,500,000 registered candidates 2. Executive search Our research team provided a market map of around 350 expats of key PMC candidates from the leading PM Consultancies in the GCC and made approaches to all of them on behalf of ASTAD. 3. Branded advertising strategy Our advertising included Construction Weekly and Gulf News, combined with an aggressive online campaign to source the best talent in the UAE. The account team at Michael Page Oil & Gas was lead by a director and a dedicated team of 17 consultants for this three week assignment. The consultants screened CVs against an agreed key selection criteria, interviewed, briefed candidates on the role, confirmed salary within ASTAD bandings, and confirmed 160 candidates to interview. Upon confirmation of short listing for 160 candidates against a pre-approved key selection criteria ASTAD were ensured that the candidates presented during interview met all the criteria and had been thoroughly screen and interviewed. This allowed Michael Page Oil & Gas to place 3-5 strong candidates on the day of interview in front of line management. Michael Page Oil & Gas facilitated the logistics of the interview series. We ensured a minimum of four consultants at the venue to ensure the campaign ran smoothly and a dedicated coordinator to organise the hotel, catering, candidates, flights, interview rooms and times for the 160 candidates over the four days.
Outcome:
Over 50 candidates were selected and presented with an offer at the end of the four days with 44 accepting. Michael Page Oil & Gas coordinated the on boarding process (visa, mobilisation flights, medical testing) with the candidates, who have all joined ASTAD.
